Homecoming Week October 5th-8th
CHSS will celebrate Homecoming. Students will participate by dressing up in different themes for each day. SGA members will organize a school wide Pep Rally for Friday's game that will take place at 2 pm in the High School Gym. At 4:00 there will be a parade that will travel from the Secondary School up to Buxton Back Road. The parade will then make its way down Hwy 12 back to the Secondary School. The Homecoming Ceremony will take place following the Football Game versus Mattamuskeet. Game time is at 7:00.

Student Project with UNC Coastal Studies
Dave Sybert is the K-12 educator at the Coastal Studies Institute. He came to Ms. Autumn Reaghard's 8th Grade Science class to explain the BOB program. BOB stands for Basic Observation Buoy. The students built their own BOBs with PVC pipe and tested how much weight they could hold. Dave also delivered a new BOB to CHSS for the students to launch off the pier. Ms.
This Week at Cape Hatteras Secondary School May 22nd Edition
AP Biology Visits UNC CSI
On May 20th, the AP Biology class went to the UNC Coastal Studies Institute in Manteo to participate in a sustainable communities activity. Students worked in the sound seining for fish and other organisms, they also gathered soil samples and water data. Students then worked in groups to develop and design a sustainable community. It was a great experience and day for the class.
This Week at Cape Hatteras Secondary School May 18th Edition
CHSS Band Plays with UNC Pembroke Jazz Band
This past week, the UNC Pembroke Jazz Band came to CHSS to play tunes from legendary Jazz musician from Rocky Mount, Thelonious Monk. The UNC band performed for middle school and high school students as well as introducing them to the theory of Jazz music. After school, the CHSS Band was invited to stay and play their instruments of choice with the UNC band members.
