Housed in a former U.S. Lifesaving Station and full of character and rustic charm, the Black Pelican is on the Beach Road, directly across from the ocean. They have a deck bar with great ocean views and, of course, lots of fresh seafood on the menu. Choose from steamed seafood, steaks or pizza from the wood-fired brick oven, a locals' favorite. Each night they offer an eclectic list of chef’s specials, and they have a kids' menu with lots of choices. Save room for one of their home-baked desserts; you’ll see what we mean when you pass the display case on your way in. The Black Pelican serves lunch and dinner every day, plus a late-night menu is served at the bar and in the restaurant. This is a lively place where you can find a fun bar scene. They are open all year.

Huanchaco Lounge is a bottle shop, bar and comfortable hangout spot in a cozy corner storefront along the Beach Road in Kill Devil Hills. You can stock up on beer (including growlers), wines, seltzers, ciders, nonalcoholic beverages and adoptogenic-infused beverages here, or stay awhile and soak up the sophisticated atmosphere with locals and visitors. Sip wines, beers, sake cocktails, seltzers and adaptogenic mocktails made with delicious and healthy elixirs while enjoying good company and entertainment a few nights a week. If you're hungry, their Island Bites tapas-style menu features rotating collaborations with food vendors from around the Outer Banks, with a focus on fresh, bold global flavors. Depending on the night's offerings, you might try charcuterie boards, empanadas, Peruvian chicken, Mexican street corn or Peruvian alfajores cookies.

TRiO Restaurant & Market is a vibrant dining and retail destination with an inviting, upscale-casual vibe that sets it apart from other places on the Outer Banks. With both a restaurant and gourmet market, TRiO offers the best from the worlds of food, wine, beer and cheese for your enjoyment on the premises or in the comfort of your home. In the retail shop you’ll find a thoughtful selection of gourmet foods, local and worldly wines, nearly every style of craft beer imaginable and artisanal cheeses that are hand-cut to order. The restaurant serves casual fare with local and international influences for lunch, brunch and dinner.  Choose from salads, handhelds, cheese and charcuterie boards, small plates and main entrees featuring fresh regional ingredients. A large selection of rotating craft brews awaits you at their copper-top bar. The extensive wine choices include more than 100 wines by the glass or bottle and a reserve list of some of the world’s most sought after wines. In the upstairs mezzanine you’ll find comfortable lounge and table seating with a tasting bar where you can enjoy weekly wine, beer and cheese tastings or host a private event. Outdoor seating is available on the front patio and in the backyard.
