Roanoke Island becomes Halloween Island

This October, Roanoke Island becomes Halloween Island, the spooky center of the Outer Banks! Sponsored by the Outer Banks Visitor's Bureau and supported by local partners, Downtown Manteo celebrates Halloween all month long, with town‑wide Halloween ambiance, over a dozen uniquely themed pop-up Halloween bars, festive decor, spooky shops, eerie inns and seasonal events.

At the heart of the event is the Halloween Island Passport Challenge — a month-long “trick-or-treat for adults.” Collect stamps as you make your way through themed pop-up bars and restaurants, then redeem your completed passport for an exclusive reward and entry into raffles featuring local gift cards and unique swag. Families can get in on the fun too with the Kids’ Quest, where children collect stamps from participating Spooky Shops and earn their own completion prize.

You can experience Halloween Island every day of the week in October! With most bars and restaurants open throughout the week, the spirit of Halloween Island is alive all week long. But the best time to visit is on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays when all the Halloween bars are open.

Halloween Island is powered by local businesses and community sponsors, with proceeds supporting Outer Banks charities through a partnership with the Outer Banks Relief Foundation — making every spooky stop part of a good cause.

Visit this October as Halloween Island takes over Roanoke Island...if you dare!
