Roanoke Island becomes Halloween Island
This October, Roanoke Island becomes Halloween Island, the spooky center of the Outer Banks! For 13 thrilling nights, Manteo comes alive with festive spirit, featuring 13 uniquely themed pop-up Halloween bars, 13 eerie inns, 13 spooky shops, and 13 seasonal events and experiences. Each is brought to you by 13 local sponsors, with proceeds supporting 13 local charities through a partnership with the Outer Banks Community Foundation! The celebration begins during Manteo’s October First Friday street party, and continues every Thursday through Saturday throughout October.
At the heart of the event is the Halloween Island Passport Challenge — a month-long “trick-or-treat for adults.” Collect stamps as you make your way through 13 themed pop-up bars, then redeem your completed passport for an exclusive reward and entry into weekly raffles featuring local gift cards and unique swag. Families can get in on the fun too with the Kids’ Quest, where children collect stamps from the 13 Spooky Shops and earn their own completion prize.
