Our primary focus is on Richard Etheridge, and only African American Keeper part of the U.S. Life Saving Service. We maintain and operate the original Pea Island Station Cookhouse (moved from its Rodanthe location to Manteo), which serves a museum to preserve the stories of Etheridge and his crew.

Visit the Cookhouse Museum at Collins Park in the Town of Manteo. Our hours for the summer season are Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.
