If you've visited our aquarium you know about our pollinator garden, where you can see a variety of different species of bees (and other pollinators) at work. Did you know there are over 20,000 species of bees worldwide? There are over 4,000 native bee species in the United States, and 500 of them in North Carolina. Bees are the main pollinators for agricultural plants in the United States, meaning we should be thanking bees every time we sit down to eat a meal! Unfortunately, bee extinction rates are 100-1000 times higher than usual due to human impact. To help protect bees, you can start by planting native plants in your own yard. Visit our pollinator garden for some inspiration to get your own garden started!

Join us for the Ton of Love Food Drive January 14 - February 14th!
Our goal is to collect a TON of nonperishable, non-expired food for the Roanoke Island Food Pantry by Valentine's Day. Receive one complimentary admission when you donate a grocery bag of items.

From December 1 through 31, 2022, donate one five-pound or larger bag of food or three items from the SPCA wish list and receive one free ticket per reservation! Help us thank the SPCA for their dedication to animals by serving as Santa Paws for the deserving shelter residents. When you're ready to reserve your Aquarium tickets, you will have the option to select one free ticket per group. Simply bring your items for the SPCA when you check-in and place them next to our Santa Paws tree. Thank you for your support of this annual tradition!
