Stick Around, Don’t Drown
- Most drownings occur outside of planned swim times.
- Designate adults to watch the children at all times, especially during check-ins.
- Drowning is the #2 cause of death for children younger than 5.
- From 2017-2019, there were 6 accidents in Dare County rental house pools involving young children. Of those, one resulted in a fatality, and the remaining required further care at other hospitals.

- In 2 seconds a child can fall into the water
- By 4 minutes consciousness will be lost
- By 6 minutes the lack of oxygen can lead to brain damage
