The Boat
The Mornin’ Glory is a 28’ Carolina Classic built right here in Eastern N. Carolina. She is known for 1 thing, being serious offshore sportfishing vessel with one HELLOVA ride. Her 16,000lb weight coupled with a 24-degree deadrise means she keeps that sexy bottom in the water, not bouncing off of it. How do we push that, with the most reliable name in the diesel market… CUMMINS. With twin 330hp Cummins diesels she sports a cruising speed of 27kts, making a short ride to even the offshore grounds. 2nd… Mac Privott didn’t forget to add a few comforts when he designed this boat. Heating/AC, fully electric head, fridge and microwave, as well as a little space down below to recuperate after fighting that monster. Mornin’ Glory is decked out with the latest in electronics, a full SIMRAD suite from 4G Radar down to Chirp sounders for finding those monsters that lurk in the deep. When it comes to gear, she is decked with the latest from Okuma, Penn and Shimano to handle anything from flounder and croaker to the big boys that haunt your dreams offshore and will test your metal.
The Captain
Captain John Abel is USCG licensed with over 29 years charter experience and has adventurously fished from the African Coast to the various Alaskan seas, and just about every lake, river and ocean in between. He first started deck-handing out on Lakes Erie and Ontario at the age of 9 with his father. There he learned to charter everything from walleye and yellow perch on Lake Erie to Kings, Steelhead and Coho’s on Lake Ontario. Joining the Coast Guard out of high school and expanding his knowledge, he began fishing commercially on the Chesapeake Bay and deck-handing out of Virginia Beach. During this time, he also took the opportunity to spend 5 months off the coast of Africa catching Marlin, Tuna and everything else the sea is home to. This vast experience allowed him to fish various places and learn techniques, tips and tricks to put him on the fast track to being one of the best.
