Let's first talk about what Late-Night Menus means. For Outer Banks restaurants, that means an establishment that serves food after 10 p.m. in the summer and after 9 p.m. in the off season. We're not talking about places that serve full menus til 2 in the morning -- this ain't New York, folks. But the late-night restaurants we note here will have a bar menu, and sometimes more, after the regular dinner service ends. (Of course, there are always the fast food chains on the Outer Banks that often are open quite late.) Many of these late-night restaurants are known for the entertainment they offer as the witching hour approaches, and they wisely serve food to counteract the effects of that after-hours imbibing. But not all people who like to grab a late bite are party animals. Some might be heading to a night of fishing; others might want to experience the Outer Banks when the sun isn't high in the sky. You'll predominantly find pizza, wings, nachos and easy food that can be put together after the trained chefs have called it a night on these late-night menus, but we’re just happy to get what we can get in the wee hours.
