Last week: IT WAS ALL ABOUT COMMUNITY!
Our KHES family and community stepped up this week to make our annual blood drive a huge success! Many of you volunteered your time, gave of your own blood and/or provided yummy treats for those that did give blood. Your kindness and generosity have provided a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn the importance of helping others! A huge THANK YOU to each of you!
Here at KHES, we believe in the importance of hands on learning and bringing our local community into our school. Recently, Deborah Parker, owner of Cosmo's Pizzeria, came into a third grade classroom to help demonstrate the importance of knowing and understanding fractions beyond the classroom. During the lesson, students took a customer order and then topped the pizza according to the order. This lesson solidified the notion that fractions are everywhere and part of everyday life! This is going to be a very busy week at KHES! First, we have our Spring Scholastic Book Fair all week! Ms. Bryson is still in need of volunteers so if you are willing and able to give of your time, please click here to sign up! This is a great time to stock up on books for summer reading and to support our school library!
Wednesday, May 6th, is Walk/Bike to school day! For more information, click here. Interim reports will also go home on this day. Please look over your child's report, sign for each subject and return it. If you have any questions or concerns, please call or email your child's teacher. Finally, we will have our Family Science Night on this day as well. This event will take place from 5 to 7pm.

May 29th is our annual field day. Coach D is still in need of volunteers to make this event successful. Please email him at dvorinda@daretolearn.org if you are able to volunteer!
