Kitty Hawk Elementary School, SOARing at KHES week of May 2, 2016

Friday, April 29 was the conclusion of our One Book, One School project.  The whole school participated in reading The World According To Humphrey , a very wise hamster!  Humphrey's world consists of Room 26, an elementary classroom, and the children's homes he visits on weekends. We learned so much from Humphrey!! Thank you  Mrs. Bryson for coordinating this awesome school project!

May 4 is Bike/Walk to School Day. Our usual staff volunteers are in place and our regular rally points will be used. Students who ride their bikes with helmets should be sure to stop by our office and get a helmet sticker to support our Get Your Head in a Helmet campaign.

The third annual North Carolina Give 5, Read 5 program is getting ready to kick off. We’ll be collecting gently used books and redistributing for summer reading. Stay tuned for information coming home in back pack mail.

Thanks to everyone for another successful blood drive! We collected 47 pints of blood for The American Red Cross ! Special thanks to our staff organizer's, Nicole Farrell and Kim Whitehurst!

Fifth Grade teacher, Adam Sakers, donated two hours of basketball time in the gym for the carnival silent auction. Browning Pierce won and he finally redeemed this past weekend.
