Dare County Schools and Region 9 Active Routes to School have partnered to implement the “Get Your Head in a Helmet! 1st Annual 2016 Challenge.” The primary goal of the challenge is to increase helmet use, and make helmet use the default behavior among students (and community members) while riding a bicycle, skate board, scooter, etc. The challenge will take place from Monday, April 4th through Wednesday, May 4th. Each day a student arrives at school wearing a helmet during the challenge, he/she can bring their helmet to the main office and receive a reflective sticker to place on their helmet. They can also ride safely after school by wearing a helmet and have a parent initial the helmet log that can be presented at the main office for a helmet sticker . Each time a student receives a sticker, they fill out a ticket and will be entered into a daily drawing for a raffle prize. Students who receive at least 10 stickers during the challenge will receive a “Be Safe, Get Your Head in a Helmet!” neon t-shirt.
Science Night is coming!!
Kitty Hawk Elementary School’s Duke Energy Science Night is on Wednesday, April 13 from 5-7 pm in the cafeteria. The Science Night is an opportunity for you and your child to explore science together! Hands-on activities will introduce a range of science, technology,engineering, and math topics in a way that is fun and easy to understand.You won’t want to miss this chance to learn together and enjoy making squishy goo, shooting rockets, building towers and much more! Siblings are welcome, too.
Mark your calendars for Kindergarten Registration on April 19 from 8:30 am until 3:00 pm. Your child must be 5 by August 31, 2016 to register.
You will need: Child's birth certificate, Immunization record, Physical Examination form and Proof of Residency for KHES area ( Driver's license, Lease agreement, Utility bill, Voter registration card).
