Country Girl Refit Update

The last two months have been busy on the Country Girl. We decided it was time to give her the attention she deserved.

My grandfather Buddy Cannady built this boat for my father Allan Foreman, and she’s been a big part of our family and our fishing history ever since. These older wooden boats were built right, and if you take care of them they can last forever.

The original polyester glass held up for almost 30 years, which says a lot about how well she was built. But it was time for a refinish. We completely stripped the old glass off the cabin, bow deck, and covering boards and re-glassed everything using West System epoxy.

Right now we’re in the fairing stage, which is the slow part. It’s a lot of sanding and patience — kind of like watching grass grow — so I brought in a little extra help to get everything just right.

We should be finished in the next couple of weeks, and I can’t wait to get her back offshore where she belongs.

May and June are filling up fast, so if you’re thinking about a trip give us a call and get on the calendar.

Captain Wanted – Headboat Crystal Dawn

We are currently looking for an experienced USCG-licensed captain to run our headboat, Crystal Dawn.

Requirements:
• Valid 100-Ton Master License
• Headboat / passenger experience preferred
• Strong work ethic and professionalism

Honoring Capt. Allan Foreman

These rocking geese are part of a Foreman family tradition that began decades ago. My father, Capt. Allan Foreman, longtime captain of the Country Girl, built the originals for me, my cousins, and a few close family friends when we were kids.

Last year I found his old patterns and decided to carry on what he started — and now my son Banks and daughter Saylor help me build them as well. Three generations of Foremans have had a hand in these.

Each goose is:
