The original biplane tour on the Outer Banks, Barrier Island Aviation offers biplane rides and air tours lasting from 10 minutes up to an hour. Three people can fly in the Cessna and two can go up in the biplane. Tours fly over the ocean shoreline, down to Hatteras or up to Corolla, over Oregon Inlet, Jockey’s Ridge and all the major attractions. They also have longer tours that take you to the southern part of Ocracoke Island or to four lighthouses — including Cape Lookout. Prices average $40 per person for biplane rides and $20 per person for air tours. They take reservations, or you can just walk up.
