The Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo (RWS) Civic Association is a volunteer-led membership organization open to residents, homeowners, and businesses who share a special connection to the Tri-Villages of Hatteras Island. The association works to strengthen community ties by hosting annual events and initiatives such as pathway maintenance, seasonal holiday decorating, scholarships for local students, and participation in Read Across America. Additional efforts like Earth Day activities, the Halloween celebration, and the village tree lighting reflect the association’s commitment to keeping community traditions vibrant. A long-standing point of pride is the scholarship program for graduating seniors, launched and guided for twenty years by Joanne Mason of Salvo and fully funded through donations and community fundraisers with no administrative fees.
