Outer Banks Marinas

It might seem rather extraordinary that there are more than 15 Outer Banks marinas … it’s not that big of an area, after all! But fishing has always been King in these parts, and for great reason, as many millions of anglers through the years can attest. The southern sections of these islands – Manteo and Wanchese, Oregon Inlet, villages throughout Hatteras Island and Ocracoke – hold all the Outer Banks marinas, with the biggest number of them on Hatteras Island (again, not surprising since the King-est of them all when it comes to fishing is Hatteras). These marinas run from small with basic services to the big all-service ones where you can dock your boat and head to an on-site restaurant or bar, fuel up, visit the marina store and admire the other boats in their berths. Many of these marinas are also home to fleets of offshore charter fishing boats and offer fish-cleaning services. Hint: Even if you don’t have your own bounty from going offshore, you should head over and watch how fast and efficiently these guys can clean these huge fish! It’s something to behold.

Other Services at Outer Banks Marinas

Several of the larger Outer Banks marinas also provide storage and winterizing of your boat. Think about how convenient it would be to call ahead then arrive to find your boat waiting for you in the water. And another service that’s become popular lately that’s only tangentially about fishing is holding special events such as weddings at these marinas. We say tangentially because you’d probably have to be a real fishing fan to choose this option, but, hey!, there are a lot of such fans out there. One thing’s for sure: You’re bound to have a great water view! And we bet it’ll be pretty easy to find fresh seafood to serve your guests. In addition to weddings, several Outer Banks marinas generously open their space for fundraisers that benefits the community.
