Currituck County events have been building to a very fun level over the past decade or so. Of course, the epicenter of activity is Corolla where some events have become so popular, such as Christmas at Whalehead, Creepy in Corolla July 4th fireworks, and the Under the Oaks arts festival that attendees often travel from the opposite ends of the Outer Banks to experience them. Recently, a 100-mile run that begins in Corolla called Blackbeard's Revenge 100 has been added to the roster. There are many weekly events in Corolla too that keep locals and visitors entertained such as Yoga in the Park and cornhole tournaments. Local restaurants also offer live music. But the fun doesn't stop there.
What used to be a rather sleepy area has begun to attract new homeowners and businesses and, therefore, more things to do on the Currituck mainland. Sanctuary Vineyards has brought popular events to Currituck for years, and they continue to be the epicenter with events such as The Big Curri-Shuck Oyster Roast, Love on the Run, the Cajun Occasion Mardi Gras, and Gusto Food & Wine 5K. But beyond Sanctuary, the Currituck Heritage Bulls & BBQ brings down home country culture of a rodeo and bbq competition.
