You may think all inns and beds and breakfasts are the same, but don’t be fooled – Outer Banks inns harbor a distinct coastal charm that you can’t find just anywhere. Sit out on a porch deck and let the ocean breeze cool your face, or snuggle into a cozy chair with your favorite book...but be warned that you will become attached to both actions! Outer Banks inns offer beautifully decorated rooms that keep you comfortable at night, and they’re located near plenty of attractions and activities to keep you busy during the day. Many inns and beds and breakfasts include amenities, such as free WiFi, bikes you can use to pedal around the area, televisions, libraries or pet-friendly options, that make a big difference in the appeal of your stay. Outer Banks inns and beds and breakfasts also have prime locations -- soundfront, in the middle of a downtown village, snuggled into trees -- that place you in the midst of the fun or in the lap of peace and quiet. 301 Sir Walter Raleigh Street, Manteo
In the heart of historic Manteo in a restored 1903 home, Cameron House Next Door offers comfort in an easy-going Air B&B-type atmosphere. Currently, there is one guest room available, the Sandpiper, but three others will open in the fall of 2021. Guests in the Sandpiper enjoy a private screened-in porch with a wood-burning fireplace, sofa and chairs. This room also has a half-bath downstairs and full bath upstairs as well as a Keurig coffeemaker, mini-fridge, luxurious bed linens and towels. Practical touches like a hairdryer and a high def TV with streaming options make this room especially comfortable, and you can also bring your furry companion to this room with prior arrangements. Wireless internet access and a large desk make the Sandpiper room at Cameron House Next Door a good choice for business travelers who appreciate an Outer Banks accommodation that takes their needs into consideration. When the other rooms open, guests will be invited to put their feet up in the sitting room, to laze on the front porch in a rocking chair or to warm by the fireplace in colder months. These rooms will have the same amenities as you have in the Sandpiper room. The owners have been in the local and national guidebook business for more than 35 years, so rest assured that all the information you’ll need about the area and things to do will be at your fingertips. There’s a no-smoking policy here. Children 12 and older are welcomed with prior arrangements. Ask for details about special packages or see the website. You’re less than a block from the waterfront historic district with its great shops, restaurants and attractions.
