Below please find an excellent article by our good friend Joy Crist, Editor of Island The Island Free Press. We've posted the link to answer a recent guest question on whether recent storm damage / beach erosion on the ocean side of North Buxton impacts travel plans to The Inn on Pamlico Sound or Hatteras Island in general.
The storm damaged area and site of the old Naval station are about 5 miles from our facility on the other side of the island. While we invite you to enjoy all of Joy's excellent journalism, she asks and answers a crucial question; "Can the public visit Buxton, and the Cape Hatteras National Seashore in general? Absolutely, yes. Keep in mind that just three-tenths of a mile of the shoreline is closed, out of 75 miles of National Seashore."
We look forward to seeing you all to celebrate The Inn on Pamlico Sound's 20th anniversary year.
