Outer Banks Swimming

At the beach, it seems like Outer Banks swimming is all around between the ocean, sounds and swimming pools. On days when the ocean is too rough for swimming (and there will be many of those days), it’s not too hard to find calmer areas that swimmers of all strengths can enjoy. Many rental houses and hotels have private pools or come with access to a community or club pool. One of the local gyms has a pool as well as a water park where your little ones can splash and squeal with joy. You can also find many great places to swim in the Roanoke and Pamlico Sounds or in swimming holes, where the water tends to be a bit more tranquil than the ocean. For the athletes out there, keep your eyes open for triathlon events where you can put your biking, running and, of course, swimming prowess to the test.
