Outer Banks Parks

Outer Banks parks dot the towns from north to south. Some of them are official parks, some are the green lawns around historic sites and attractions, some are playgrounds. But all of them provide open spaces, either grassy expanses for a blanket or tables for picnics and the chance to enjoy being outside. Several of the town parks are particularly good. Duck's park provides an oasis in the middle of town for yoga, performances, events and outdoor romping. Nags Head has several parks including the new one, Dowdy, that many citizens – including the kids! – were invited to help design. Kitty Hawk sponsors a park just for the dogs! Manteo has several playgrounds that serve the youngsters who live in or visit town. A few have open but protected shelters with table that are perfect for larger gatherings; contact the prospective towns to reserve them. These Outer Banks parks give you yet one more opportunity to experience the natural world and breathe in lots of fresh air.
