Commemorating your vacation with an Outer Banks beach portrait session with your family has become somewhat of a tradition here. Throughout the warm months, it's common to see groups being artfully arranged by the photographer along the dune line for these pictures. Many family groups have planned in advance and all show up in similar clothing such as jeans and a white top or all in the same color. Some have planned so far ahead that everyone in the picture is wearing a t-shirt made specifically for the portrait – Johnson Family Reunion of 2018! The photographers are professional and experienced in arranging all the people into a cohesive whole, from the babies up to the great-grandparents. The photographers tell us that many of their clients arrange to have these family pictures taken every year as a way of marking the growth of the small ones and the ever-changing makeup of the family as a whole. Whatever your reason for doing so, calling in advance to set up an Outer Banks beach portrait can be a fun activity for your group. Most people take them in the evening as the day is cooling and the light is not so bright, but there are groups that have been known to gather at sunrise . . . that's got to be a challenge with the teenagers in the bunch!
