Benchmark Testing begins

Outstanding Students
MMS student Ezekiel Marshall placed second in the American Math Contest held at Manteo High School. Other winners included Bryson Casey (1st place), and Kaleb Goudy (3rd place).
Two Manteo Middle School students, Katie Bender and Ainsley Ludolph, have been selected to join the NC Middles School All-State Chorus. The other three students who challenged themselves to try out were Rebekkah Eller, Anna Tawes, and Jessie Granger. The All-State Chorus will preform in Greensboro on April15-16.
Sports
Track - the 1st track meet of the season will be held 3/17, 4:00 pm @ Pasquotank
Baseball and softball start off their season with an opening game against Hatteras on March 16th at 5:00.
AVID
Trips for the AVID classes are right around the corner: April 12th for 8th grade, April 18th for 6th/7th grade.
Odyssey of the Mind
The competition was Sat March 12th. MMS had five team that competed. We will post results in next weeks news letter.
AIG
Interest groups meet every other week. Students and community members are enjoying the sharing of information.
National Honor Society
Two groups of students went to MES for the read across America event. Both the readers and the listeners loved the day!
Rachel's Challenge
60 students were treated to an eventful day sharing stories and experiences. A big thank you to all those who made this event possible!
Community Speakers
Sara Hallas and Erica Connery from the NC Coastal Federation spoke to 8th grade science classes
Johnathan Crain from the State Credit Union spoke to our AIG students
Kimberly Browne Noelle Belden from Grassey Key, Florida spoke to all the 6th grade students about dolphin research.
