Manteo Middle School like the rest of North Carolina was impacted by weather this week.   Tuesday we dismissed at noon forcing the AIG fair to be rescheduled.(Date and time to be determined.)  Wednesday Dare County Schools ran on a 3 hour delay; students and staff were excited about the prospect of playing in the snow but were sad to miss time due to weather.

The biggest impact came on Thursday when it was decided that the "Empty Bowls" dinner would be changed to March 5th.  Hopefully this change will encourage everyone to free up March 5th and come out to support the local food pantry. Many of  the silent auction items are on display in a showcase by the front office just in case you want to come in and check them out before March 5th.

Even with all the weather challenges the students have bee working hard:

The 6th grade students have been focused on skills that will help them conquet  any benchmark test.

The 7th grade students have been busy with poems and heart models.

The 8th grade students are already looking toward high school as they make plans to attend the meeting on March 3rd that will explain their class choices for 2015.

Now let's look ahead.

The physical education department is teaming up with media to create public service announcements. We will share these in as they are completed.

Empty Bowls will be March 5th with amazing silent auction items and music from Manteo students throughout the night.

The Odyssey of the Mine group will compete March 7th at First Flight High School.
