Sports Update

The softball team traveled to First Flight Middle School for the first round of the conference tournament.  The team had its challenges this season but grew in individual skills and team skills.  The game was one of the best this season but unfortunately they lost and will need to wait til next year before they have a chance to play again.

The baseball team traveled to Perquimans for their first round in the tournament.  The boys faced the number two team in the conference. The game showed how much the boys improved this season but unfortunately they lost which ended their season.

Events

Progress reports went home on May 6th, attached to the progress reports was a letter about the End Of  Grade testing.  Please note the test dates and make sure your child is prepared to do their best on theses tests.

Pop Top Assembly was on May 8th.  The school joined together to present the Lady Shrine Club the pop tops that they collected this year.  The event was both moving and fun.  Manteo enjoyed hosting the Ladies Oriental Shrine.  The visitors including a young lady who shared her story on how the collection of pop tops helped her in the road to a healthier life. Bella, a three year old was born with problems to her feet, today thanks to the work of the Shriners she now is walking and even had on her first pair of flip flops.  The exciting part of the afternoon was that each grade level represented a time period in history with dress, games and music from that era.  Mr MacDonald was crowded the Pop Top king for 2015. Keep collecting those pop tops, who knows what next years event will bring and what lives will be touched by the donations.

Manteo Middle teachers were treated this week to a breakfast on Tuesday and lunch on Thursday to remind them that they are appreciated.  They loved the treats and to quote one of the teachers, "It is nice to be reminded that others know that the job we have chosen requires a big commitment and that we are appreciated for the hard work."

Coming Up

Please make sure you have your calendars marked for the PTO spring concert on May 12th at 6:00!  The band and chorus students have been working hard to prepare for a wonderful night of musical entertainment.
