The Outer Banks Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Coalition gave out safety lights to bike riders on May 22nd. The organization wants students and parents to focus on safe exercise as we go into the summer months. The increase in traffic definitely impacts travel no matter what method one uses and a refocus on safety is always a positive.
Cheer try outs were this week at MMS. Over 25 girls were lead through stations to learn basic skills. The squad was selected on Thursday and will begin conditioning this summer.
Band, chorus, and strings went to Bush Gardens on Friday to show off their skills at "Music in the Parks". Each groups did very well and the students had a fun filled day.
NC Coastal Federation visits MMS to present a review on water. The students looked at salinity, dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, and bio-indicators to determine if a water sample represented "healthy" water.
A BIG thank you to the PTO for the new calculators!
End of Grade testing will begin on May 27th! Testing will start the first thing each morning so it is important that your student gets to school on time and ready to work. Please encourage your student to take advantage of extra help offered after school and to do their best on the test.
