DID YOU KNOW….that Lost Colony Brewery's entire operation grew out of one man’s quest for the perfect English-style brown ale???
Many years ago, right here on Roanoke Island, Paul Charron was frustrated because none of the stores on the Outer Banks carried an authentic British Brown. If you know Paul, then you already know that he is a stubborn sumbeach and doesn’t give up. So one evening, Paul began home-brewing his very first batch of brown ale.
Fortunately for Paul, his incredible wife Sharon owned a restaurant, so he set up his brewing operations at the Full Moon Café in Downtown Manteo. Well, the smooth & creamy brown ale was a huge success, which led Paul to start brewing other English & Irish-style ales….and thus Lost Colony Brewery was born.
With the popularity of his Kitty Hawk Blonde, Hatteras Irish Red, and Nags Head IPA increasing along the Outer Banks, the fledgling brewery quickly outgrew the available space inside the restaurant, so the brewing operation was moved a few miles west to Stumpy Point, where they now brew several popular year-round favourites along with a couple of seasonal beers found in convenience stores, supermarkets, and restaurants throughout the Outer Banks and a few select other locations throughout coastal Carolina.
Yet while the brewery’s selection of English & Irish beer styles may grow, it all started with the flagship NUT BROWN ALE. Stop by our tavern in Manteo or the Waterfront Beer Garden in Nags Head and enjoy a pint of this delicious Outer Banks craft creation!!
