Ortega'z Southwestern Grill brings some cultural spice to downtown Manteo along with a little flash of star quality. The restaurant and its owners, Marcelo and Lisa Ortega, were featured in a recent episode of the Food Network's popular show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives with Guy Fieri. The specialty of this Southwestern-inspired restaurant is sourcing local ingredients including local catch seafood, produce and even coffee. Large portions at affordable prices enhance the value of an Ortega'z meal. House-made specialties include a Southwestern-encrusted rib eye, a full rack of barbecued ribs, tequila-lime chicken, build-your-own fajitas, local seafood from Wanchese harbor, healthy salads and soups and more. Desserts include homemade cheesecakes, flan and churros (apple-filled pastries drizzled with caramel icing). Ortega'z serves beer and wine, with a wine list dedicated to the regions where the owners grew up – Northern California and Chile – and now also has a full bar. The atmosphere is colorful and casual, and in warm weather you can dine outside on the patio.
