Jennette’s Pier is a state-of-the-art educational center and fishing pier complete with a pier shop, classrooms and banquet hall. It's one of the Outer Banks' star attractions, drawing thousands of visitors each year. The pier features wide, clean public beaches, free parking and a bath house with outdoor showers. With its motto of Fishing, Family and Fun, Jennette’s offers something for everyone. There’s world-class fishing, unique educational programs and excellent opportunities for sightseeing from the 1,000-foot-long pier. Owned and operated by the N.C. Aquariums, Jennette’s Pier was awarded the coveted Platinum LEED Certification by the U. S. Green Building Council in 2012. In addition to its three iconic wind turbines towering over the pier, the green facility boosts a reclaimed water system and geothermal wells that help provide heating and cooling. Anglers can find everything they need for a day of fishing inside the pier house. Various types of rod and reel combos can be purchased or rented by the day for $10 (photo ID required). There’s plenty of bait and tackle for sale as well as drinks, snacks and souvenir items such as cool flip flops and sunglasses.

Education is a strong suit of Jennette's Pier. Their classes, summer camps and programs are popular for good reason. Fishing 101 is held Monday through Friday at 9 a.m. For $15 you get instruction, equipment and bait. Call or see the website for more about pier programs.

The pier has a blanket license for all anglers, so you do not need a fishing license. A daily fishing pass is good all day and night until the pier closes and costs $14 for adults and $7 for kids (12 and younger). A three-day pass costs $36, and a seven-day pass costs $80 (children pay half price on passes). Ask about prices for annual passes, family passes and pin rig passes. Walk-on sightseeing passes cost $2 for adults and $1 for children. The pier is open year round (except Christmas Day). In season (May to October) hours are 6 a.m. to midnight every day; off-season hours are reduced and vary so call ahead.
