Exploring the 4WD area north of Corolla is way more fun when you’re driving a dune buggy. Good Vibrations Beach Rides rents custom high-performance VW dune buggies (Thing, Beetle and Baja) with two-seater or four-seater options. They offer daily rentals at five-hour time slots (not overnight), and each four-speed manual transmission car is both road and beach friendly. Good Vibrations is on the northern Outer Banks, and you can pick up the car or have it delivered in some locations. You can drive the cars on the beach in the Carova area to see the wild horses. Keep in mind that if you plan to stop and park on the beach, you will need a beach parking permit from Currituck County. The cars are regularly maintained, and there’s a focus on safety.
