Buxton and Frisco Fire Departments Visit

This past Thursday, the Buxton and Frisco Fire Departments came to the CHSS OCS class and discussed with students about a career or volunteering to become a fireman, use of fire equipment, fire safety, and how the Hatteras Island Fire Departments work together.  Students were able to ask questions from research they did on firefighters.  Two of the fire trucks were brought to show students all of the different types of equipment that is used and the differences in the two fire trucks.  Students had a great time learning and developed an appreciation for their volunteerism.  Thank you to the local firemen that came out to work with our students.

The Hatteras Island Youth Education Fund will host the 5th Annual Shore Break 5K on May 30th. The race will be ran in Avon Village along with a Tide Pool Fun Run.  Please register to walk, run or volunteer.   ALL proceeds benefit Hatteras Island Students.   If you volunteer you will get a cool race shirt!  Please visit http://www.hatterasyouth.com/#!shore-break-5k/c4fi  to sign up to race or volunteer.

Band Concert on Friday

The CHSS Band will hold their spring concert on Friday May 20th.  The students have been practicing to put on another great night of music for Hatteras Island and show off how talented musicians they are.  This is a free concert to the public.  The doors will open at 6:30, so you may want to get in line early to make sure you get a good seat.  The concert cannot be streamed online due to copyright laws.  We hope to see you all there.
