Senior Retires
Luis "Senior" Martinez has taught Spanish and coached soccer at CHSS and Dare County Schools for over 22 years. He has helped many students on and off the field in his career. Some still come back to visit him and share their stories about soccer games. Senior is always encouraging students to strive for success and make choices that will improve their life. His example of hard work and enthusiasm will be missed. We all wish Senior the best of luck in retirement and hope you come back to visit. You will be missed.
USCGA Hold Assembly at CHSS
On Friday, January 29th, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary visited CHSS to educate staff and students about cold water safety. The instructors stressed the importance of using a personal flotation device at all times in a boat or around water. The 1-10-1 rule was discussed if you fall in cold water- 1 minute to calm yourself and control your breathing, 10 minutes you will lose the effective use of your fingers- arms- and legs for any meaningful movement, and 1 hour before becoming unconscious due to hypothermia. Please help educate yourself, family members, and friends about the dangers of cold water. Always be prepared in any situation. The USCGA will also conduct a boater safety education course the first week of March at CHSS for any student, free of charge. Thank you to the men that came out and shared their information with us.

CHSS Talent Show
The 2016 Talent show was on Wednesday night at the CHSS Auditorium. We were dazzled by the magic of Jeffery Wescoat and his talented assistant, Rodney Brinson. The piano playing of Elizabeth Muller and singing of Peyton Cabral and Madison Keiser soothed our souls. The duo of Mrs. Georgia Hardee and Fuller Hardee singing/playing some classic tunes on guitar was special. It was a hard decision, but Michael Clark's singing, blew the judges away and won the title of CHSS Got Talent Champion. Thank you all that participated and entertained the school and community. Watch the full talent show HERE.
