CHSS Adobe Certified Associates

Students in Mrs. Georgia Hardee's Adobe Academy Classes have passed the Adobe Certified Associate test in Photoshop.  Aaron Stowe, Tucker Paddock, Jadon Oliver, Chris Clark, Michael Clark, Carly Martin, and Chris Zavala are the first at CHSS to pass these exams and also in Dare County Schools.  The students took an online exam through Certiport that consisted of 45 questions that must be completed in 40 minutes.  The test is a performance based exam along with questions about the features in Photoshop.  We are very proud of their certifications and can't wait to see some of their work.

Summer Opportunities for CHSS Students

Summer opportunities for CHSS students are beginning to roll in the guidance office now!  Mrs. Karla Jarvis will post them on the front glass in her office as they come in.  For instance a great opportunity from the engineering program at N.C. State is available for both middle and high students.  There are many more from colleges and other programs to help keep you involved and learning over the summer.

Juniors Preparing for the ACT

Mr. Seth Rose, Dare County College Advisor, is helping students fill out the pre-Act packets on Friday.  All CHSS Juniors will be taking the ACT in March for free.  This is an excellent opportunity to see what the test is like and help prepare for college.  There are ACT Prep Courses online along with sample questions.  Just search ACT Prep online using Google and find some sample questions and helpful information, so you can score your highest possible on the test.  Good luck Juniors.

King George on Trial at CHSS

Ms. Minn's  History 1 class is doing a mock civil case between the 13 Colonies and King George.  They are suing the King for excessive taxes and violating their democratic rights.  King George is counter suing with the claim of debts owed to England for the 7-Year war and the Boston Tea Party.  Among the materials students will be examining, are original copies of era documents as evidence. (Declaration of Independence, Olive Branch Petition, Proclamation of 1763, etc.)  A group of Mrs. Van Atta's 8th grade social studies students will be serving as the jury.  The case is set to go to court in early March.
