Chromebooks for CHSS

Attention Parents and Students. CHSS Teachers and Administration would like for ALL students to take advantage of the Dare County Learning Initiative Plan.  The Dare County Board of Education is committed to providing digital learning opportunities.  The introduction of the student laptop initiative will greatly enhance the 21st Century learning environment of classrooms in Dare County Schools, providing teachers and students with access to a rich array of educational resources and opportunities.  If your child does not have a Chromebook or does not bring their own laptop to school, then they will be required to have one starting January 20th.  Teachers are incorporating more lessons that require online research and its important for them to have access to various online resources.  Forms can be downloaded here and brought back to Mr. Ratliff with payment.   Over 100 students have already signed up!!

Pack the Gym Friday January 15th VS Ocracoke

This next Friday the High School Basketball teams will be taking on long time rival Ocracoke.  The players and coaches want the gym to be packed with Hurricane Fans to support our teams.  The JV Boys will tip off at 4:00.  Bring a friend, family member, tourist, anybody to come and show your Hurricane Pride.

Students Lend a Hand with Turtles

In December, several sea turtles washed up on the shores of Cape Hatteras.  Mrs. Del Monte's AP Biology class assisted NPS Biologist to try to determine how the turtles might have died.  Students were able to help perform a necropsy of the turtles here at CHSS.  Many CHSS students also helped with the hundreds of cold stunned turtles this past week.  Thank you students and staff that have helped save many of these turtles.
