Ocracoke Island-based storyteller Donald Davis is a master of the art of telling a homespun tale. The author of 18 books and more than 40 original recordings and recipient of both the Circle of Excellence and Lifetime Achievement awards from the National Storytelling Network, Davis is a national storytelling treasure. He performs to large audiences and offers storytelling workshops all over the nation, but once in a while you can catch him on Ocracoke Island. He is an integral part of the Ocrafolk Festival on the first weekend in June and holds annual weeklong Storytelling Workshops on the island.
