This is a barbecue joint and more. Every day they make their own pulled pork and ribs and sell it by the pound, on sandwiches or on platters. They smoke and cook everything on site fresh each day, and their sides and salads are also homemade every day so they're fresh and oh-so tasty. All the different regional styles of barbecue are here to suit any taste. Surfin’ Pig’s homemade Southern-style sweet tea and fresh-squeezed lemonade are sunny, summery accompaniments to their meats. If you're going to be buying two or more pounds of the barbecue or two or more racks of ribs, they ask that you give them 24-hour notice. They can also cater any size gathering. The Avon location opens at 11 a.m. and stays open until 10 p.m. Hatteras hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Hatteras location is right on the water at the marina and features all outdoor seating with staff service. This makes it quick if you’re trying to catch the ferry.
