This annual festival is a wildlife extravaganza that focuses on celebrating and learning about the region’s migratory birds. For five days, near the end of October, locals and visitors can enjoy the Outer Banks native flora and fauna by participating in hikes, canoe trips, photography, nature and art. The event is held when weather at the Outer Banks is mild and you can see the beautiful changes in nature around you. In addition to seeing any of the 400 species of birds that migrate through the regions, participants may also get to see various reptiles such as alligators, amphibians and mammals such as black bears and red wolves. Plan your trip ahead of time because tour groups are kept small so that everyone can hear well and ask their questions. Come explore the diverse natural environment of these amazing islands! This Outer Banks annual event is usually held in late October.
