Manteo’s two-day Christmas celebration spurs a spirit of holiday cheer throughout the community that lasts all month. Starting on the first Friday night in the month, you can head over to the waterfront area to watch a pageant that includes singing and storytelling. The night concludes with the illumination of the Town tree in front of the historic courthouse. On Saturday morning, the Christmas parade enlivens the downtown with floats, bands, horses, festively adorned cars and of course Santa. After the parade you can join the Roanoke Island Holiday Tour that takes you to splendidly decorated homes and other attractions in Manteo and Wanchese. Visits to Island Farm for Christmas Past – a glimpse at 1850s Roanoke Island Christmas -- and to the Elizabethan Gardens for WinterLights are a must!
