Looking for a luxurious five-star Outer Banks hotel? They're here. Or are you more in the mode of one of those classic, old-school motels, some of which have been serving vacationers since the 1950s and '60s? You'll find them from Ocracoke all the way up to Kitty Hawk.

In the Outer Banks there are national chain hotels, locally owned properties and mom and pop establishments. Most all of them feature amenities that range from an oceanfront location, indoor or outdoor pools, hot tubs, fish-cleaning station, play and picnic area, internet access or grills. And if Fido just insists on coming with you on vacation, some pet-friendly accommodations will welcome you and your four-legger.

If you want a quieter, quainter experience, there are exceptional Outer Banks bed and breakfast inns in Corolla, Duck, Kitty Hawk, Manteo, Hatteras and Ocracoke. Some of the B&Bs are elegant, some are quirky and fun. All of them will afford you an experience that speaks more to the historic soul of the area.

Prefer camping? The Outer Banks offers full-blown camping mega-resorts. Or, tent and trailer campers looking to get back to nature will enjoy the no-frills National Park Service campgrounds.

The most popular form of Outer Banks accommodation is the rental home, ranging from two bedrooms on the sound to 10 or more bedrooms on the oceanfront, some luxurious, some simple. Most of the houses have every amenity you could imagine needing or wanting media rooms, several master suites, pools, hot tubs, gourmet kitchens, game rooms, fireplaces, internet access — and availability that ranges from a weekend stay to an extended vacation. Price depends on size, the proximity to the water and the season. Many local rental companies manage houses in every area of the Outer Banks. Find out more in our Vacation Rentals section.

So, whether you're a honeymooner, family, business person or need reunion-sized capabilities, you'll have options in this resort community. And we're glad to have you!
